How Our Classroom Experiences Enrich Our Preschool Curriculum

7/30/2019

At Mother Hubbard, we offer our three-year and four-year students the opportunity to learn in a play-based setting. On a typical day at our Livonia preschool, the class will enjoy circle time, snack time and an art project, while having plenty of time to make their own choices as to what they would like to experience in the classroom.

However, not every day is a typical day at Mother Hubbard. We incorporate innovative classroom experiences into our curriculum, which provide students with unique learning opportunities.

Some of our classroom experiences include:

Special Visitors to Our Classroom
Throughout the school year, both the three-year and four-year classes will enjoy special visitors. The Music Lady loves to sing and dance with our preschoolers, while Mother Goose arrives ready to teach the students all about nursery rhymes. We also have visits from the church pastor, a local veterinarian and others during the year.

Holiday Parties
We love to celebrate the holidays at Mother Hubbard! Our students enjoy classroom celebrations for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter.

Special Learning Days
We often take advantage of opportunities to incorporate special learning days into our curriculum. The three-year-old class, for example, participates in Bakery Day. Together with the teachers, they learn how to bake their own cake and decorate their own cupcakes. Other special days include Paradise Day, Gingerbread Day and Bike Day.

Our classroom experiences often complement our current theme for the week, and add an extra element to our curriculum. The students find these experiences to be both fun and memorable, and we love seeing their reactions as they discover something new for the first time!

Searching for a Preschool? Here's What to Look For

7/16/2019

Summer is upon us, and many parents are already looking ahead to the new school year. If you feel that your child is ready for preschool, then the next step is to find the right program.

Here’s a few things you should look for in a Livonia preschool:

A Play-Based Curriculum
Research shows that play-based curriculums provide students with the most advantages in both the short- and long-term. Children do serious learning while they are playing, and our program provides students with ample free time to enjoy different activities and interact with the other students.

A Low Teacher:Student Ratio
You will want to make sure that your preschooler gets the individual care and attention that they need, which is why the teacher:student ratio is important. At our school, there are three teachers in the classroom at all times. Our three-year class is limited to 18 students, while our four-year class can accommodate 22 students.

A Safe, Welcoming Classroom Environment
The classroom environment plays a crucial role in your child’s preschool experience. You will want to feel confident that your child is in a place where they feel safe and loved. Our Livonia preschool prides itself on being a place where students can enjoy a wide variety of activities and experiences. We rotate our toys and classroom stations based on the current curriculum theme, and we strive to incorporate the weekly subjects into every aspect of the day.

As one of the best Livonia preschools, we go above and beyond to provide our students with an amazing preschool experience. Our school differentiates itself from other preschool programs by:

  • Offering fun, healthy snacks during each class.
  • Scheduling in-school learning experiences, such as inviting local musicians to the classroom or hosting local veterinarians to teach our students about their trade.
  • Scheduling field trips that take our students into the community and allow them to experience hands-on learning in interactive environments.

We hope that you choose Mother Hubbard for your child’s preschool. Contact us today to learn more about our three-year and four-year preschool programs.

3 Benefits Your Child Will Enjoy From Our Three-Year-Old Preschool Program

7/8/2019

You know that your three-year-old is physically and emotionally ready for preschool, but you’re not quite sure if now is the right time to enroll them in a Livonia preschool program. Countless parents find themselves facing this same question: Does my child really need to go to three-year-old preschool?

Research has shown that there are both short-term and long-term benefits to early childhood education. Here’s just a few of the benefits our three-year-old preschool in Livonia can offer your child:

An Ability to Listen, Take Direction and Cooperate in a Classroom Environment
For many preschool students, this is their first experience with listening to an adult who is not a family member or caregiver. Listening skills take time and plenty of practice to develop, and preschool is a caring, nurturing environment where they can learn to listen to directions and cooperate with other students.

An Opportunity to Play
Play is the hard work of preschoolers. Research continues to show that play is the best way for young children to learn, and our play-based program provides students with hands-on learning opportunities throughout the entire school day.

A Chance to Grow Emotionally and Socially
Three-year-old children are just learning to regulate their emotions and to adjust to social norms. In the preschool classroom, they can test their boundaries and make mistakes in a loving environment where they feel safe and secure.

The three-year-old students at our Livonia preschool spend their days having fun, without even realizing that they are doing the hard work of learning. Our play-based program gives children the freedom to enjoy the classroom space while introducing them to the concept of a classroom structure.
